Skiing on top of the world

Our terrain is remote and spectacular, with many glaciated runs. Book now to experience it for yourself or visit our Gallery to get a taste of what we’ve got.
By working with the Department of Conservation and local landowners we have secured what we believe is the best variety of back country helicopter-accessed terrain available in New Zealand.Since 1986 we have developed over 200 named runs across three mountain ranges. Our runs average around 850 vertical metres, the longest being 3 kilometres- which clocks an amazing drop of over 1,200 vertical metres! Methven Heliskiing's terrain incorporates 3 amazing mountain ranges - the Arrowsmiths, Ragged, and Palmer Ranges. To save a mouthful, we just call it "the Arrowsmiths". These dramatic peaks lie at the headwaters of the Rakaia and Rangitata Rivers, hidden from the Canterbury Plains by the foothills of the Southern Alps.

Nowhere else in NZ (outside of the Mt Cook area) can you find this kind of high alpine terrain: pinnacles of rock and ice, gnarly couloirs, and steep glaciers. There's not a tree in sight - we leave them 5000 ft below!

The Arrowsmiths catch snow from every winter storm, but the terrain is so extensive that we can often be out heliskiing when Mt Hutt ski area is draped in clag.

With over 10002 kilometres of mountain to roam, there's scope here for all standards of heliboarder and heliskier. Come with us and we'll give you all the terrain you can ask for.
